Fulfillment Hour (Sunday School)

Fulfillment Hour is commonly referred to as Sunday School. It is the Foundational Strategy at Greenforest Community Baptist Church for leading people to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and building Great Commission Christians through Bible Study groups. It is our goal to:
  1. Find Them: Making contact with a person and motivating them to give an honest hearing to the Gospel.
  2. Bring Them In: Communication the Gospel in an understandable manner and motivating a person to respond to Christ and become a responsible member of a church
  3. Grow Them Up: Guiding the learning activities that meet human needs from cradle to heaven
  4. Send Them Out: Bringing a person to spiritual completion.

Fulfillment Hour is a non-traditional model for Sunday School, which fulfills the purposes of the church in an intimate small group setting. At Greenforest, Fulfillment Hour is the nucleus, infrastructure, delivery system and employment agency of the church. It focuses the congregation on God’s six purposes of the church, Evangelism, Discipleship, Fellowship, Ministry and Worship.

Fulfillment Hour consists of small groups that model the structure of the larger church. Each Fulfillment Hour unit is led by a Shepherd and an Assistant Shepherd who are assisted by several positional leaders (See Fulfillment Hour Organizational Chart). Fulfillment Hour is available for all ages from six weeks through senior adults.

Our Biblical basis for Fulfillment Hour is referenced in Deut. 12:12, affirming our mission of reaching, teaching, winning, maturing, nurturing, and caring for our flock.

“Gather the people together, men and women and little ones, and the stranger who is within your gates, that they may hear and that they may learn to fear the Lord your God and carefully observe all the words of this law”.

Meeting Times, Literature & Locations

Fulfillment Hour is held each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. in the Greenforest Complex*. We believe that the Holy Bible is our primary textbook with overarching goal to cover the entire Bible over a life time using a balanced of biblical content, study approaches and life issues. It is important that the curriculum is properly sequenced so that learners build a foundation. Planned, ongoing Bible study fosters strong relationships and regularly invites the lost to believe in Jesus Christ.

Fulfillment Hour Leaders’ Meeting is held each Wednesday @ 6:15 – 7:30 PM. This is dedicated time for training and instructional preparation for our shepherds (teachers). Pre-School and Children- Building I; Youth: Building III; Young Adults and Adults: The Fellowship Hall. Each year we honor our shepherds for their faithfulness at our gala Leaders’ Appreciation Banquet, held the first Saturday in November.
